Goodwill of Southern Nevada Receives $50,000 Investment from the Gene Haas Foundation
Nonprofit receives generous funding to provide critical career services to marginalized populations throughout the greater Las Vegas area
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Jan. 14, 2022) – Goodwill of Southern Nevada (Goodwill®) received a second philanthropic gift of $50,000 from The Gene Haas Foundation, bringing their support of Goodwill’s career services and job training programs since last August to $100,000. The donation was presented by Joanne Haas, director of community grants at the Gene Haas Foundation, at the Goodwill Board of Directors Annual Meeting.
“The Gene Haas Foundation’s generous contributions have enabled us to immediately expand our career services offerings to local job seekers,” said Rick Neal, president and CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “Their gifts act as a force multiplier during a very challenging time for too many Southern Nevadans severely impacted by COVID-19.”
“We are honored to be supported by the Gene Haas Foundation, and this gift will enable Goodwill to continue to address the impact of poverty in Southern Nevada,” said Brian Dziminski, chair of the Goodwill board of directors.
The grant will support Goodwill’s newest strategic initiative of Employer-Driven Training Sprints, encompassing customized candidate preparation and skills training to address the specific needs of local employers for in-demand careers in high-growth industry sectors.
“The Gene Haas Foundation values the innovative work being done by Goodwill to prepare job seekers for careers in in-demand sectors such as healthcare, skilled trades and manufacturing,” said Joanne Haas. “We are proud to continue our philanthropic support of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, whose programs are powerful contributors to the Las Vegas Valley’s economy.”
The Gene Haas Foundation is supporting various local charitable organizations as Haas Automation, Inc., expands its operations into Henderson, Nevada. Gene Haas has a home in the local area and is committed to being an active and supportive member of the southern Nevada community.
