Goodwill of Southern Nevada Reveals 50th Anniversary Logo and Previews Yearlong Celebration

Range of initiatives focus on giving back to community

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (September 25, 2024) – Goodwill of Southern Nevada (Goodwill®) announced plans to celebrate the charitable nonprofit organization’s 50th anniversary in 2025 with a full year of events and initiatives marking a half-century of service to the state's four southernmost counties.

Within one year of its founding in 1975, Goodwill partnered with the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) to serve individuals living with disabilities. In 2005, Goodwill opened its first full-service career center in the Las Vegas Valley; a second opened in 2016. In 2020, Goodwill consolidated its warehouse, clearance center, and e-commerce operations. The Goodwill Training Academy opened its doors in 2022, then expanded earlier this year. Throughout the years, Goodwill’s trademark thrift stores multiplied to the current 17 locations.

“Our success over the years is due in large part to the support of our community,” said Goodwill of Southern Nevada President and CEO Rick Neal. “Our 50th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to involve our donors, shoppers, partners, program alumni, and team members in a yearlong celebration.” All four estates are represented in a 50th anniversary logo that represents both Goodwill’s milestone and Las Vegas’ remarkable evolution.

Among the initiatives slated for 2025 are a relaunch of the loyalty shopper program with weekly gift card giveaways; a fundraising partnership program whereby Goodwill stores will raise funds and visibility for 12 local nonprofits and their causes; and store activities involving customers and team members.

Goodwill will also expand partnerships with organizations championing Las Vegas fashion and art communities, whose designers and artists rely on Goodwill for materials and inspiration for their upcycled and sustainable creations.

The Goodwill community will come together on February 27, 2025—the nonprofit’s official 50th anniversary—for the Goodwill Golden Anniversary Gala at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center. By June, multiple store openings—including a relocated Deja Blue Boutique—will bring the total to 20.

In 2025, Goodwill of Southern Nevada (Goodwill®) celebrates five decades of service to the state’s four southernmost counties. Our 50th anniversary logo not only signifies the importance of this milestone, but honors the people, purpose, and history that have contributed to our success.

About the Goodwill of Southern Nevada 50th Anniversary Logo

The interlinking gears represent five estates that together make Goodwill work for our community:

  • Donors who trust Goodwill to be good stewards of their generosity;

  • Shoppers whose patronage—whether they are thrifting for fun, making the most of their budget, or supporting their small business—supports our social enterprise;

  • Partners and funders that provide crucial support for Goodwill disability programs, train-to-hire programs, training scholarships, and supportive services;

  • Career and job seekers, individuals with disabilities, and others who achieve their potential through our programs of service; and

  • Team members who make a difference every day through their dedicated work in our stores, attended donation centers, warehouse, career centers, and corporate office.

The mark’s most prominent element uses the milestone number as a canvas to convey the remarkable evolution of Las Vegas over the span of time the region has been served by Goodwill. The “5” features incandescent bulbs reminiscent of 1970s casino marquees; the “0” is embedded with transistors powering the massive LED screens that reflect the region’s vibrance and ingenuity.
