Goodwill Blue Diamond Store Spreads Early Christmas Cheer with Fourth Annual Holiday Shopping Spree
Event benefitted 50 children and their families served by local nonprofit organizations
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (July 12, 2024) – successfully completed their fourth annual Holiday Shopping Spree on Friday, November 15 at the Goodwill Blue Diamond Store. Fifty children served by five local nonprofits—FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) of Southern Nevada, Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Foster Kinship, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, and Speedway Children's Charities—received $100 Goodwill of Southern Nevada gift cards to shop throughout the store.
Santa Claus kicked off the event by arriving in style aboard a Clark County Fire engine, merrily greeting the children, and inviting them into the store where they were chaperoned by volunteers from Clark County Fire and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department during their Goodwill shopping experience.
“This event is all about teaming up with community partners to support local children and families in need,” said Richard “Rick” D. Neal Jr., president and CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “At Goodwill, we pride ourselves on giving back to a community that donates to our stores year-round. Our Holiday Shopping Spree is just one of the ways we try to bring holiday spirit to those who need it most. Year after year, it’s rewarding to see the look on children's faces when they are greeted by Santa as well as how much their families appreciate this special opportunity.”
Goodwill also hosts a similar annual event, Christmas in July, to bring mid-summer cheer to the community.
