Army Vet Pursues Welding Career
After Clifton completed his service in the Army, he enrolled in Goodwill’s Veteran Services programs with the clear goal of becoming a welder. A career in welding would allow him to support his family and make his own schedule, but it also required special training that was prohibitively expensive.
Goodwill’s veteran career coach helped Clifton secure the cost of tuition, as well as his transportation costs while he trained earned his welding certificate.
Clifton completed the required training and took steps join a welding union and find an apprenticeship while employed in an auto repair and body shop. He is grateful to have experienced such a smooth transition into the civilian workforce and feels proud to be able to provide for his wife and children.
