Sixth Annual Holiday Resource Fair Serves Local Families

Our Goodwill® team welcomed families from central Las Vegas to our 6th annual Holiday Resource Fair and Food Distribution on Thursday, December 15 at The Boulevard Mall. Backed by presenting sponsor State Farm, Goodwill and our community partners served more than 150 families with much-needed holiday meals and supportive services.

The event was supported by food drive providers including Albertsons, CrossRoads of Southern Nevada, Parkdale Center, and Raising Hope of Nevada. The Resource Fair featured exhibits and representatives from 23 community organizations, including HELP of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Nevada State Cinderella Girl Scholarship Program & Pageant, Northwest Career College, The Salvation Army, U.S. Vets, and many more.

Goodwill Salutes a Decade of Serving Veterans

In 2012, through the generosity of Nevada Women’s Philanthropy (NWP), Goodwill created its “Veteran Integration Program” to serve our military families. After a decade, this program is still going strong.

Goodwill’s team of Veteran Services professionals have provided free comprehensive career services to active-duty spouses as well as local veterans seeking to transition from military to civilian life.
Drawing on our wide range of free career services, career coaches with military experience help veterans translate their military skills to civilian jobs and chart a path to employment, career advancement, and long-term financial stability.

Notably, Goodwill stands out as one of the few nonprofits positioned to help spouses of active-duty service members identify and train for careers that can grow as military assignments take their families from place to place. For more information about Goodwill Veteran Services, visit GoodwillVegas.org.

Goodwill helped James build a future in welding.

James enlisted a Goodwill career coach to help him translate his military experience into a thriving career path. Through 100 hours of Goodwill-funded training, James earned welding, first aid/CPR, and forklift certificates. James was hired immediately upon graduating and is exploring the opportunity to train as an underwater welder. Read his story.

A United Way to Support Emerging Professional Women

Every year, United Way of Southern Nevada hosts their Women's Fall Suit Drive to support local professionals seeking to further their careers. During this event, Women United members rally the community to donate new and gently used women’s professional wear to distribute to local agencies with return-to-work programs. Thanks to generous donors contributing over 5,500 professional items including suits, dresses, shoes, handbags, and jewelry, Goodwill received nearly half a ton of quality merchandise for budget-conscious families who shop at Goodwill stores.
Your Support is a Gift!

For nearly 50 years, Goodwill for Southern Nevada has evolved into a community pillar by training and placing people for jobs and thriving careers. When you support Goodwill’s career and veteran services, train-to-hire programs, and disability programs, you help our community thrive.

While donations of household goods fuel Goodwill’s social enterprise,
monetary gifts allow us to expand our capacity to provide no-cost services to ever more individuals looking for a hand up and a path to financial stability and upward mobility.
