Healthcare Professionals Complete 90-Day MA

In mid-March, Goodwill hosted a graduation ceremony to confer certificates of completion to the fourth cohort of the 90-Day MA, an accelerated program to prepare and train candidates for Medical Assistant roles at Intermountain Health. The twelve-week course utilizes Goodwill's Training Sprint methodology to accelerate the introduction of healthcare professionals to help alleviate the industry's shortage of workers in the Las Vegas Valley. A collaboration between Goodwill, NV Careers, and Intermountain Health, the 90-Day MA's fifth cohort is now underway at the Goodwill Training Academy.

2022 COMMUNITY IMPACT

Year after year, hundreds of thousands of Southern Nevadans shoppers, donors, program participants, employees, employers, and funders serve, sustain and spread our mission.

Goodwill supported Mia's dream to become an RN.

Mia was unemployed when she enlisted Goodwill to help her become a registered nurse. Facing financial and logistical challenges during her nursing training, including a brush with homelessness, her Goodwill career coach helped Mia secure tuition assistance and earn her credential. She now works as a CNA and is well on her way to becoming an RN. Read her story.

Goodwill Career Coaches Lead the Way

Goodwill of Southern Nevada has a team of ten career coaches who provide personalized guidance to job seekers and military veterans as they explore healthcare and stagehand training programs, work readiness workshops, and support services that develop skills or shepherd letters of intent into full-time employment. Stationed at two store-based Career Centers and the Goodwill Training Academy, Goodwill career coaches routinely maintain dozens of active clients at any given time.

Goodwill helped Daniel transition to civilian life.

When Daniel concluded his Marine Corps service, he faced difficulties finding steady employment and stable housing. Struggling to translate his military experience into civilian work, his Goodwill veteran career coach helped him fund commercial driver’s license training. Daniel immediately secured employment as a company driver and plans to be an entrepreneur. Read his story.

Good Work! Awards Celebrate Excellence

Our stores not only provide revenue to support ongoing and new programs of service, they also act as a training platform, providing job skills and leadership training for team members to advance either within Goodwill or with other local employers. On March 23, our inaugural Good Work! Awards Dinner saluted 33 team members, including the management team of our 2022 Store of the Year located at Ft. Apache and Flamingo.
