Move Doesn’t Deter Military Spouse
Ashley was attending school pursuing a career in healthcare when her husband, a U.S. Air Force service member, received orders to relocate from Charlotte to Las Vegas. Not wanting to put her credits to waste, she switched to Liberal Arts in order earn her AA degree prior to the move.
Knowing she wouldn’t be leaving Las Vegas any time soon, Ashley returned her career focus to healthcare. She reached out to the Nevada Nursing and Healthcare Workforce Center, which informed Ashley about the gateway to certified nursing assistant (CNA) training: a monthly CNA Bootcamp organized by NV Hope and Goodwill.
Ashley was referred to Goodwill Veteran Services, where a career coach enrolled her in the Dislocated Worker’s Grant, a training and employment program for spouses of active-duty military. The grant funded Ashley’s participation in the weeklong bootcamp, which once completed would qualify her for formal CNA training.
With Goodwill’s help, Ashley was poised to use her CNA training to secure permanent, full-time employment in the healthcare industry and continue her long-term goal of obtaining her RN license.
Ashley is extremely appreciative of the services and attention she received from Goodwill, affirming: “Because of Goodwill’s help, I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I’m ready to move forward!”
Goodwill helped Ashley pursue her healthcare career.
