Resilient Woman Pursues Passion for Healthcare

When she approached Goodwill, Mia was unemployed and dreamed of becoming a registered nurse. For Mia, the path to a nursing career was financially and logistically daunting, and she felt confident that Goodwill could provide the support that she needed.

Mia’s first step toward her goal was to complete certified nursing assistant (CNA) training, but she was unable to cover the cost of the program. Her Goodwill career coach helped her secure tuition assistance.

Once Mia began her CNA training, she faced more obstacles, including transportation and housing challenges. For a stretch of time, she struggled with homelessness. During these difficult times, she counted on the support of her Goodwill career coach, who guided and cheered her on every step of the way.

Through resilience and determination, Mia successfully completed her training and passed the CNA exam with flying colors. With her new credential, Mia was hired as a CNA at a transitional rehabilitation center and was able to secure stable housing. Thanks to her new career path, Mia is well on her way to becoming a registered nurse.
