Young Woman Thrives in Retail
Taylor, a 25-year-old woman with autism, was eager to join the workforce, but struggled to find her niche. Referred by VR Nevada to Goodwill’s Community Based Training (CBT) program, Taylor participated in a 20-day assessment to develop new skills and gauge her readiness for a retail career.
The program was challenging at first, with Taylor working especially hard to follow instructions and meet productions standards. Thanks to one-on-one assistance from her trainer and her own determination, Taylor rose to the occasion. Taylor mastered essential skills needed for a career in retail, with a particular aptitude and enjoyment for stocking merchandise and sorting donations.
Upon completing CBT training and passing her assessment, Taylor was highly recommended for job placement. Shortly after, she secured employment as a department store sales associate with fulfilling daily responsibilities.
Goodwill brought out Taylor’s unique talents.
